Campi Bisenzio is a municipality located in the metropolitan city of Florence, in the Tuscany region. The municipal territory spans the plain and is traversed from north to south by the River Bisenzio.

In the past, the town was known only as “Campi”: Dante Alighieri, for example, refers to it as such in his Divine Comedy. The name may derive from the subdivision of the territory into numerous fields. The current name of Campi Bisenzio was only adopted in 1862, with the addition of the name of the river that flows through the town.
